5 Things Every Reiner Needs To Read

Hey! Prefer to listen instead of read the Newsletter? I got you! The Resilient Reiner Newsletter also comes as a podcast! 🎙️ Tune in to the latest episodes now!

I hate that I have to say this but it’s true…

And I know it’s going to piss people off…

But these are 5 things every reiner needs to read. (All other disciplines see if you learn anything, either).

1) Your bit doesn’t matter. Top riders get results in bosals, correction bits, snaffles and bridleless. Focus on your training and yourself.

2) Your horse’s pedigree doesn’t matter. Seriously, Gunner bred vs Topsail Whiz vs Magnums. Yes, it helps if you have a purpose bred horse and not a mule, but for 99% of folks, your disappointing scores and penalties are not because you had a Jerry Lees Surprise and not a Late Night Stopper.

3) Your trainer doesn’t matter. This pisses people off but your trainer getting results is NOT the same as YOU getting results. For most folks, a specific trainer is less important than having knowledgeable guidance and support.

4) Get your trainer out of your ear. Top riders do NOT have a bluetooth in their ear. It keeps you OUT of flow state and peak performance. Trust your damn training and ride your horse.

5) You need to be a confident rider. At the end of the day, when you are in the show pen you are the one riding your horse. Your horse desperately wants you to be a confident leader reassuring them the shadows in the corner are not in fact going to eat them.

Do you think you just need another lesson? Or do you need to work on your mind?

I’ve personally scored in the top ten at a ranch versatility circuit on a freaking formerly wild mustang I trained against purpose bred QHs because results are so much more than pedigree.

I had a string of clients this past year who were showing with their trainer in their ear on bluetooth headset and weren’t scoring well. They were so focused on their TRAINER and not on their HORSE they weren’t riding as well as they could! Everything I know and have studied about flow state and peak performance cries when I hear this. I had them experiment with taking the earpiece out and along with going through my proven process and training for focus, their scores shot up!

I say these things to empower you.

Stop letting external circumstances define you.

Stop letting excuses stop you.

Stop leaning into “woe is me” and all the reasons you can’t.

START leaning into why you CAN.

You are a bright shining star. A freaking confident cowgirl, baby.

You CAN do this.

You ARE meant for this.

You are a baddie, as the kids say.

Love you and believe in you,

Nicole
