The Ready, Ride, & Reflect Show Diary
A great tool to help you optimize your runs and shows
Effective reflection is key for performance (NOT depicted in this gif)
The Ready, Ride, & Reflect Show Diary
If you listened to the podcast conversation me and Nicole had on how to bounce back FAST at shows (Episode 15, “How to Bounce Back When You're Still At A Show”) you heard us come to the realization that there was a need for a more structured way of “debriefing” following runs and shows.
This is one take on the concept, and we have ideas for others which we may create in the future.
For those who haven’t listened to the episode yet, the context is that we arrived at the realization that a lot of riders don’t take the time, either between runs, or after shows to really effectively DIGEST; And not just the results, but everything! …From preparations and lessons, to logistics and pre-run routines…to the run itself, to how you wind down after the run.
From observation, a lot of folks think of the time before a run and after a run (assuming you don’t have another one right away) as “free time” and don’t utilize it effectively.
The idea is if you use a small portion of your free time to digest effectively, to get ready before you ride, and to reflect after you ride, then A) your performance will improve, B) you will ride with more confidence and less stress, and C) you will improve more from run-to-run, show-to-show.
This Ready, Ride, Reflect Show Diary can be used any number of ways, just depending on how it fits into YOUR show routines and rhythms. Being consistent in how you use it is more important than exactly how you use it versus anyone else.
If it works better for you to do it once before a show, and then again a day or two after a show, knock yourself out. If you get more value out of using it before each run and after each run (as you’re able) that’s great too.
You’ll see this is comprised of two sheets: the first sheet is the Show Diary page itself, while the second sheet is instructions on how to get maximum value from the Show Diary pages.
Feel free to download this guide, print it and use it as you see fit. We hope it helps you start getting more “bang for your buck” from every run at every show you attend.
And we’d love to hear how it works for you. If you have any thoughts on how it could be made even more effective, please do email us. We read every email we receive.
Thanks for being part of Resilient Reiner!
Warm regards,
Abe
