The 5 Mental Monsters Haunting Riders This Halloween š»

Hey! Prefer to listen instead of read the Newsletter? I got you! The Resilient Reiner Newsletter also comes as a podcast! šļø
Hey there, cowgirl š»
If youāve felt a little spooked in the saddle latelyā¦
youāre not alone.
This week, around the barns and arenas of Resilient Reiner, weāve been calling out the five sneaky Spooky Scaries in the Saddle ā those mental monsters that love to haunt good riders on their way to greatness.
And no, Iām not talking about your horse snorting at the drag or side-eyeing the banners.
Iām talking about the ghosts that live rent-free in your own mind.
Letās unmask them, shall we?
š§āāļø 1. The Hex of Self-Doubt
She doesnāt kick the door in ā she whispers.
A comment that stings.
A run that didnāt go to plan.
A single thought that starts twisting your confidence into fog.
āMaybe Iām not ready.ā āSomeone else could do this better.ā
Thatās the Hex talking ā and sheās only got power if you believe her.
The antidote? Awareness and a little humor.
Catch her in the act and say, āNice try, witch. Iām not cursed ā Iām capable.ā
š» 2. The Apparition of Anxiety

You donāt see her ā you feel her.
She shows up right when youāre tightening your cinch on show day.
Your heart races, your breath shortens, your mind spins faster than your horseās rollback.
But hereās her secret:
She only haunts riders who care.
If sheās around, itās proof youāre stretching beyond your comfort zone.
So breathe her in ā deep through your nose, out through your seatbones ā
and remember: fear isnāt failure, itās focus waking up. š«
š„ 3. The Demon of Distraction
Heās loud, messy, and allergic to silence.
The moment you find your rhythm, he starts banging pots and pans:
āIs my coach watching?ā āDid my horse just bobble that?ā
He feeds on chaos and perfectionism ā
but you donāt have to fight him.
Just out-focus him.
Bring your eyes up, your breath steady, and ride your way back to flow.
Because the Demon canāt distract a rider whoās fully present.
ā” 4. The Poltergeist of Perfectionism
If Umbridge had a horse, this would be her.
She hovers quietly, straightening things that were already fine ā your posture, your circles, your worth.
She whispers, āNot quite right,ā until the fun disappears.
But progress is supposed to be messy.
Itās where the magic happens.
So next time she starts rearranging your ride, grin and say,
āThanks, but Iām done ghost-hunting today.ā š“āØ
šŖ¦ 5. The Tomb of Burnout
Sheās subtle. Creepy.
Doesnāt crash through your door ā just quietly steals your sparkle.
One day youāre fired up, the next youāre running on caffeine and sheer grit.
Everything still āworksā⦠but the colorās gone.
Hereās what she doesnāt want you to know:
Burnout isnāt the end. Itās your cue to remember joy.
To stop proving, and start feeling again.
Take the trail ride. Rest. Laugh with your barn crew.
Because the only thing scarier than slowing downā¦
is forgetting why you started riding in the first place. š
If these hauntings hit close to home ā youāre in good company, cowgirl.
These āmonstersā donāt show up for the lazy or the uncommitted.
They follow the riders who care, who try, who dare to want more.
But youāve got something stronger than any ghost.
Awareness. Humor. Heart.
And thatās all you need to ride brave, ride steady, and ride free.
If youāre ready to trade mental monsters for true confidence,
saddle up for Resilient Reiner Academy ā
the place where riders turn doubt into grit, fear into focus,
and chaos into calm, collected confidence. š§”š»
Itās everything you need to stop second-guessing yourself, quiet the ghosts in your head,
and finally ride like you belong in that arena. šÆļøš“
Ride alive,
Nicole
