This Is Cowgirl Spirit! 🤠

Hey! Prefer to listen instead of read the Newsletter? I got you! The Resilient Reiner Newsletter also comes as a podcast! 🎙️ Tune in to listen now!

Let me share something on my heart.

While many of my clients do have purpose-bred, fancy-pants horses bred to compete at the top level, many do not. (But this newsletter isn’t about my clients who’re winning year end high points, top 10 at AQHA Congress or at the NRHA Derby or Affiliate Championships.)

Take my one client.

Her horse is, well, a LOT.

And she’s newer to riding. She’s been told it might be easier if she had a different horse. And to be honest, yeah, it probably would be easier for her.

But she’s not in it just for some competitive accolades. She’s not competitive in that she doesn’t want to be THE BEST at whatever cost.

She wants to be a cowgirl. A horsewoman. A confident, capable rider who has FUN with her horse. And she wants to do it on HER HORSE. The one she has. (‘Cause us humans get all attached and emotional…)

She wants to prove he (her horse) can do it. That she can do it. That they can do it together.

I know there are plenty of wealthy folks out there buying $$$,$$$ horses to win all the things. And no shade to them. But I want to call out the folks out there bringing their whole heart with them when they swing into the saddle.

Here’s a controversial opinion I stand on: As a competitor and coach, I see over and over again that having the most expensive horse isn’t the most important thing, and it’s no guarantee of success. Often, that fancy horse loses to a team where the owner spends precious time, day after day, to bond with that animal. To build and grow together. Where the owner is delusional and tells that horse and themselves that there’s nothing they can’t do.

And that horse believes that inner voice, and together, they go and do what others said can’t be done.

That’s the true cowgirl spirit.

That’s what matters most.

They were champions in their hearts long before anything showed that on the outside.

This is the HEART of what I do with mental coaching.

To be in your corner and watch you do something others thought impossible, until you go and do it.

BRB, I'm just gonna go cry now.

To your success,

Nicole
